Common Car/Vehicle Faults
There is no such thing as a perfect car. Almost every vehicle has one or two features that the manufacturers could have done a bit better on. Often these faults lead to problems that are difficult to diagnose. This list of common car faults is built up through our experience in the trade. We are adding to it all the time.
Steering Fault - These vehicles are fitted with "City" stering which is a kind of super-powered power-steering. The steering columns typically fail around 60-80k miles. Symptoms are: the CITY dashboard light coming on when the button is not pressed and the power steering failing intermittently. Solution: first of all don't worry, you can still drive a car with failed power steering, it's just very hard work. You either need to fit a new steering column or more likely a reconditioned one (cheaper option)
Gaskets - For an car made in a hot country the Punto would benefit from a bigger radiator. Often they over heat in hot summer traffic jams which blows the head gasket (expensive). Watch the engine temperatuire on hot days if you aren't moving.
